1 Nylon


While you are free to use any brand and type of material you wish on your AON3D machine, we can only provide support for AON3D-approved materials that we have tested and developed processes for in-house, all of which can be purchased from AON3D directly by contacting sales@aon3d.com.

1.1 General Process Settings

Extrusion Temperature260-280ºC
Bed Temperature120-130ºC
Chamber Temperature100ºC

1.2 Usage Notes

1.2.1 Build Surface Preparation

Nylon prints best on the AON-M2 High-Temperature Build Plate, but can be printed directly on Kapton tape with the use of a wide brim and a thin layer of PVA glue applied while the bed is cold. Adhesive residue should be cleaned with water followed by isopropanol. Wipe down the build surface with isopropanol before use.

Note that PEI surface of the High-Temperature Build Plate should be periodically resurfaced using a mill, or with an orbital palm sander if no milling services are available. Please contact sales@aon3d.com if you currently have an AON-M2 Aluminum Build Plate and would like to upgrade to the AON-M2 High-Temperature Build Plate.

1.2.2 Material Pre-treatment

Nylon is extremely susceptible to moisture uptake. We recommend drying the filament overnight at 80ºC before use, and to always store in a sealed container with desiccant.

Take care to check the spool material of your filament prior to baking your material. Some vendors use low temperature materials for spools which may melt or deform at bakeout temperature.
